
Kiona is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. She graduated from West Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling. She completed her practicum hours at Northwest Texas Hospital Behavioral Health where she gained experience working with adults and children in an inpatient setting who presented with symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use, and more. Having worked as the Head counselor with a local agency, Kiona has helped individuals involved in the justice system struggling with trauma and/or abuse, grief, anxiety, depression, and those in recovery both in individual and group settings. Kiona has continued serving the community as a mental health professional in private practice and is involved with local and international organizations.
Kiona specializes in treating individuals who experience symptoms of post-traumatic stress, complex trauma, and anxiety. Kiona works with clients to become more in tune with their physical bodies. She also enjoys working with those experiencing symptoms related to self-esteem, anxiety, attachment wounds, and major life changes. She has experience and training in utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, Flash technique, motivational interviewing, EMDR, and Somatic Experiencing. Kiona became a Maiberger Institute Certified EMDR therapist in October 2024. She is currently seeking her certification to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner as a student of Somatic Experiencing International.
Kiona is passionate about working with a wide range of adults, ages 17+. She feels it is important to meet her clients where they are. Kiona believes our experiences influence all aspects of our lives and when we increase the awareness of our physical and cognitive selves we begin the process of healing. Her goal is to provide ethical, gentle and client-centered treatment using a variety of theoretical modalities to meet her clients’ specific needs. Kiona believes that humans are resilient and capable of healing when provided the appropriate skills, education, and safety to face difficult things. She finds it a privilege and honor to be able to come alongside your journey towards healing.
