ADHD TESTING & ASSESSMENT:

  • Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts individuals and families throughout their life span. At Amarillo Professional Counseling and Consultation, we offer objective ADHD assessment and testing to evaluate both children and adults . Our comprehensive evaluation takes about two to three hours and includes a full psychiatric diagnostic evaluation, computerized testing, and consultation about test results. Test results can be taken to a medical provider for medication support and school support.

ADHD TREATMENT & CO-OCCURING ISSUES:

  • Treatment of attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder for both children and adults includes medication management, psychoeducation about the disorder, and ADHD specific Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that is focused on skills to improve executive functioning. Treatment can also include partnering with environments such as the home, school, or work to help the ADHD individual thrive.
  • The treatment of ADHD and co-occurring issues may be addressed through ADHD specific CBT and EMDR as well as other therapeutic models. We treat various issues such as co-occurring trauma, anxiety, and depression.

CONSULTATION SERVICES:

  • Consultation provides a framework and understanding to individuals or family systems of what ADHD is and how it affects someone throughout the lifespan.
  • Consultation services for the treatment of ADHD may include psychoeducation for parents, spouses, schools, and counselors. This allows for collaboration and coordination of services for the individual diagnosed with ADHD. The goal of consultation is to provide education about how ADHD affects the brain, reduce shame and stigma around the diagnosis, increase support of the individual with diagnosis, and improve the overall treatment of ADHD.
